Amsterdam, March 2020

As most of the people in this planet I had to stop and be submit to huge changes.
Many structures had felt apart and I had the space to rethink in what really matter.
I might say these metaphysic issues have been always present in my work, but this time it was perceived from a wider perspective. I'm sure it happens to many of us. It was not about facing reality as individuals any more, not even as countries. This time is about us as human beings living on one planet.

I'm an artist with a lot experience working with clay, it feels natural for me to make an analogy between my/our relation with this material and how I/we cohabit in this planet.

If I talk about clay, I already have known a wide range of its different approaches, from very different places.
For instance: My studies that comes from ceramics studios and practitioners of ancient techniques from South America, consider clay as sacred. Work with clay is to work with reality. It is a living material that physically and energetically contains the four essential elements.
In India, I worked with a nomadic family of bricks builders. I couldn't speak their language but I learned by imitating their moves. For them, clay is a survival matter. It is a valued and appreciated heritage. It is hard work with a lot of laughs.
In Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy in The Netherlands, clay can be anything you want or plan.
Today, one thing is more clear than ever. I want to make distinction on working with clay as a 'practitioner'. I propose this position based on posture is based on the common tendency of being 'consumers'. Not only in relation to over-shopping and hyper-productivity, but it is mostly about how we perceive and relate with people and the whole ecosystem.

That's how I present these series of hand modelling clay courses.
Each of them related to one part of our body.
The awareness goes over the process of building.
The rest is something to discover.
